VOC is owned by a husband and wife team, Peyton and Taylor Mason. Peyton has been crabbing since he was fourteen, he would fish in the summer. This passion turned into a fulltime career after college, he bought his first boat, and began oystering & crabbing. Two years later he was bought a Chesapeake Bay deadrise, like he had always dreamed of being since he was a small boy. That same week he bought the boat he spent years doodled in his notebooks about, he meet and fell in love with Taylor.
The two developed a deep passion for the seafood industry, in the early years of dating Taylor would go down to the dock to help Peyton unload his oysters and crabs. Many "date nights" were spent working on gear and making sure the boat was right to go to work the next day. They talked and dreamed about opening a processing facility, where Peyton would catch the products that get shucked and picked, and Taylor would manage the day to day operations.
The couple began raising a family and making that dream a reality shortly after getting married. In October of 2022, Taylor & Peyton opened Virginia Oyster Company. Peyton Harvests the Oysters, Crabs & Softshell Crabs and VOC partners with other local Watermen to supply other fresh local seafood.
